Decoding Italy's MACSE Tender

Infravenir is excited to present an upcoming Infrainsights session focusing on one of Italy's most talked-about developments: the MACSE tender.

The MACSE* (Electricity Storage Capacity Procurement Mechanism) auction, held on September 30, 2025, marked a significant milestone in Italy's energy transition. The auction awarded all 10 GWh of available capacity at an average price of €12,959 per MWh per year. While the results have been celebrated for their competitiveness, they have also sparked discussions about the profitability of business models at such tariffs. Experts are evaluating the results and the prospects for future auctions and the broader battery storage market in Italy and Europe.
